The Beginning
Matt Brandenburg was born in Detroit at the beginning of the 1980’s. He was raised on Looney Tunes, Ren & Stimpy, PeeWee’s Playhouse, and too many horror movies he shouldn’t have seen at such an impressionable age. This mixture bubbled and marinated in his brain until a strange stew formed. He carried this with him to Kalamazoo where he began tinkering with the flavor. Punk, metal, ska, the soundtrack to sideshow haunted houses, and the howl of lake effect winters kicked the tasty flavor up another notch.
Not quite grown up
He spent years exploring Chicago and New York, did some time in an Army uniform, and toiled behind a desk. While working at a newspaper he went ghost hunting, did some taxidermy, and became an honorary dog poop patrol specialist. He worked at a place that had George Washington’s teeth and he touched a bezoar. The ingredients were added to the boiling pot in his head.
Still a kid
Eventually he found he couldn’t contain it any longer and poured that stew onto the page. What came out was a dangerous mix of cartoon, dread, violence, sideshow, and fun!
So grab a spoon and dig in, you might find something you like!
